Bitmain Plans to Sell Its New Antminers This Week

Bitmain’s New 7nm Antminer Goes on Sale on November 8

Mining rig maker Bitmain Technologies has announced the company’s latest Antminers armed with 7nm semiconductors will go on sale on Nov. 8. As stated by the China-based business, Bitmain will release two new versions called the Antminer S15 along with the T15.

Bitmain will shortly be selling fresh Antminers equipped with 7nm semiconductor technology. The business published an announcement on Tuesday, detailing that the two latest versions, the S15 and the T15, will soon be available for purchase on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. EDT. The 7nm chip was produced by Bitmain and the world’s largest independent semiconductor foundry TSMC.

“We are officially announcing the release of our newest 7nm miners which have industry-leading hash rates created to mine with the SHA256 algorithm,” Bitmain explained on Twitter.

The company’s website has one preview photo of this machine, which looks far different than the preceding Antminer series. At the moment the website overview, pricing, specifications, and photo gallery is unavailable for public viewing. On the other hand, the company’s statement on Wechat explained the S and T set are SHA256 miners that can mine bitcoin cash (BCH) and bitcoin core (BTC) together with all the mining ability as low as 42 joules each terahash.

“The next-generation of chip integrates up to 1 billion transistors and is optimized algorithmically — With a unique circuit structure and low power technologies, the chip energy efficiency ratio will probably be as low as 42 J/TH,” that the Bitmain announcement clarified on Wechat.

Obviously, the problems of both the BTC and BCH chains combined with the S and T set pricing will determine how profitable the new devices will be mining these cryptocurrencies. Further, Trump’s latest tariffs may influence prices for those that are importing Antminers to the U.S. There is also a lot of rivalry that’s been declared over the past few months since a few other producers intend to launch next-generation machines. For example, Canaan’s Avalon 911 will be powered by a 7nm semiconductor, and the company claims it will work at 18 terahashes per second (TH/s) and also have an energy consumption of 1440w.
